If there's any state in the union that could benefit from H2A workers right now, it seems to be New York.
An expert says labor shortages for processors and producers have been largely caused by a lack of affordable housing in the state. This could be a big opportunity for developers up in West Michigan to build H2A housing for their temporary work forces and avoid further shortages.
Citizens from Mongolia, Samoa, and Tonga will be ineligible for temporary work visas through the U.S.'s H2A program in 2021. But the good news is that there are roughly 80 countries that are still able to participate. See if your country is on the list.
Beginning tomorrow (Jan 19th), non-immigrant workers from the Philippines will allowed to obtain H2A & H2B Visas again, after being prevented from doing so in the last two years.
Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
